Mahlwinkel

The Mahlwinkel greenfield solar park was constructed by the German firm Solarworld in 2012, on the grounds of a former military airstrip in Mahlwinkel in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt.

79,800 Solarworld polycrystalline modules were installed. Xantrex converters made by Schneider Electric were selected, and the supports for the PV-mounting system also came from Solarworld. The project benefits from the favorable feed-in tariff of 18,76 ct/kWh Euro, in place before the 2012 amendment of the German Renewable Energy Act (EEG).

Long-term project financing for the facility was arranged in conjunction with Landesbank Baden-Württemberg, supported by a low-interest subsidy from the KfW development bank.
