The greenfield solar park was developed and put into operation by a German contractor on the Spanish Mediterranean island of Mallorca. The location of Arta is ideal for the production of photovoltaic energy, enjoying favorable solar radiation levels of up to 1,628 kWh/m².

Due to the island location and salty sea air, a weather resistant PV-mounting system from Habdank was chosen. Initial start-up testing showed the facility was underperforming. The fault was traced to a flawed production batch, which was easily exchanged under the terms of First Solar’s product guarantee. The lost revenue streams were fully reimbursed for the relevant timeframe.

Long-term project financing for the facility was drawn up with Commerzbank, supported by a low-interest subsidy from the KfW development bank.
