Palazzo Pignano

The Palazzo Pignano greenfield solar park was constructed by Gehrlicher Solar AG in August 2011 in the Italian province of Cremona, around 35 km south of Treviglio.

The facility uses some 46,200 thin film modules from the US solar manufacturer First Solar. Important criteria for the module selection are the manufacturer and performance warranties. In 2012, the market-listed First Solar was ranked in second place among global module manufacturers. With a module production capacity of over 1,900 MW, it is one of the largest solar firms worldwide.

Together with the HSH Nordbank a long term project financing could be arranged supported by a low-interest subsidy from the KfW development bank.
